1STRUCT Building & Renovation is a family owned and operated Brisbane based building company. We specialise in residential renovations, extensions, raise & build unders, new homes and commercial fitouts. Operated by the Davis family and managed directly by two brothers, Ben Davis a qualified builder and Michael Davis a business consultant, 1STRUCT is a quality Brisbane home renovation and extension builder.

Our Team
Michael Davis
(Managing Director)
As Managing Director, Michael oversees all things finance, legal, IT and business-related at 1STRUCT. He works closely with Co-Director Ben to ensure accurate systems are in place to guarantee top quality results and services for all 1STRUCT clients.
Michael has many years’ experience running a diverse range of businesses. Coming from an information technology background means he is highly systems oriented, which has led to the streamlining of many of 1STRUCT’s construction processes.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Business (Banking and Finance) and Bachelor of Information Technology (Information Systems) from Queensland University of Technology. He resides in Balmoral with his wife and young daughter who keeps him nimble and on his toes.
Ben Davis
(Builder & Director)
As Builder and Director, Ben leads the project management, estimating and sales departments at 1STRUCT. Ben’s two main roles are to give clients clarity through the pre-construction phase and to ensure quality control of works on-site.
Ben started his construction journey as a “chippy”, before moving on to become a qualified carpenter and later, obtaining his Certificate IV in Construction with the HIA (Housing Industry Association) in Brisbane. This solid foundation saw Ben then go on to attain his Low Rise – Builders Licence from the QBCC.
Ben lives in a Raise & Build Under home in Coorparoo, a 1STRUCT speciality, with his wife and two boys who continue to beat him regularly on PS4!
Alan Davis
(Director)
As Director, Alan is responsible for guiding 1STRUCT’s strategic management, as well as overseeing financial matters and looking after the long-term security of the business.
Alan’s extensive accounting experience is evident in the 12 years he spent as Director of Finance at the Queensland Health Department. This experience (and more) means he is well suited to oversee 1STRUCT’s strategic direction and financial health.
Alan also holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA). Now that his boys are fully grown construction wizards, Alan lives a semi-nomadic life between Australia, Thailand and Japan.
Katie Schwab
(Office Manager)
Katie’s position as Office Manager means the 1STRUCT office runs like a Swiss watch! Her main roles are overseeing office operations, contracts administration and accounts processes.
Katie joined the 1STRUCT team in 2011 and her attention to detail has been integral to the efficient-running of the office ever since.
Before joining the team, Katie studied at Griffith University where she earned a Bachelor of International Business and a Bachelor of International Relations, with a major in Japanese. She currently resides in Carina Heights with her husband and fur baby Tilly.

Although at the beginning of the quoting process 1STRUCT may not be the cheapest company, by the end of the build, you would be surprised how competitive they are. Everything is included from the start, unlike many other companies who add tens of thousands of dollars extra to the quote for different items (such as tv antennas, floor coverings, different coloured paint etc) after the contract has been signed. I felt comfortable, informed and involved throughout the whole building process and I was always welcomed onto the site to inspect the progress and any questions or concerns were promptly attended to. We would not hesitate to use 1STRUCT again in the future.
